In El Manguito, in the municipality of Báguanos in the province of Holguín, there is an elderly couple in urgent need of help.

Ernestina Laguna Benítez is 78 years old. Her husband, Teodoro Ramírez, is 90 years old. They have been married for about 50 years and are now in a very vulnerable situation.

Ernestina suffers from ataxia. She can only move around using a wheelchair and needs help with almost all daily activities. Teodoro suffers from advanced cancer and requires constant care and palliative support.

Their health situation is serious. But their living conditions are also very worrying.

They urgently need a good bed and mattress

Ernestina and Teodoro do not have a good place to sleep. They sleep in very poor conditions and urgently need a proper mattress and suitable bedding.

For people of this age with such serious health problems, a safe and comfortable sleeping place is not a luxury; it is a basic need.

In addition, the couple needs help with food, hygiene products, care supplies and medical support.

Their son takes care of his parents and therefore cannot work normally. The family does not have sufficient financial resources to pay for all the necessary care, food, and materials themselves.

The need is great

This is not a situation that can wait months.

Ernestina is completely dependent on help. Teodoro needs continuous care due to his serious illness. Any improvement in their daily circumstances can make a direct difference.

A good mattress, adequate food, hygiene products and grooming materials can make their lives immediately a little safer and more dignified.
