Ana Alejandra is five years old and from the Holguín province in Cuba. She has serious heart problems.

In March 2026, she underwent surgery at the William Soler Children's Hospital in Havana. During this treatment, two catheters were placed due to abnormalities in her heart.
Due to her medical situation, Ana Alejandra has problems with her physical and motor development. She requires regular medical check-ups and further treatment. This care is only available in Havana, a great distance from her place of residence.

A long and expensive journey

Ana Alejandra has a medical appointment in Havana on 10 August 2026. She needs to travel to the capital from the province of Holguín with her mother and grandmother. This journey takes approximately twelve to thirteen hours.
The family has relatives in Havana and can stay with them temporarily. This means there are no hotel costs. However, the family does not have enough money for transport, local travel, and food during their stay.
Ana Alejandra's mother looks after her daughter at home. Her father works as a barber but doesn't have a steady income. The family doesn't have enough financial resources to pay for the trip independently.

Where is help needed?

Stichting Amistad con Cuba wishes to support the family with:

* transport from Holguín to Havana and return;
* local transport in Havana;
* food during your stay;
* Necessary costs related to the hospital appointment.

We are currently investigating the safest and most suitable way to travel. It is important that Ana Alejandra arrives in Havana a few days before her appointment. This will allow her to rest sufficiently after her long journey.
